This is an eSummary, prepared by the CII Learning Solutions department, on the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), which replaced the 1995 Investment Services Directive (ISD) from 1st November 2007. MiFID covers investment advice, portfolio management, deposits, designated investment business and long-term insurance business in relation to life policies, and training and competence. For CII students taking General Insurance exam units before September 1st 2008:Many of the edLEARN courses have now been updated to reflect the new ICOBS, however, the rules it replaced - ICOB, will still be examined in some units up until September 1st 2008. CII students taking exams before 1st September 2008 should check the CII's testing position by referring to the update section of the CII website: www.cii.co.uk/updates, and familiarise themselves with the older ICOB rules – which can be accessed by clicking on the following link: |
